We are pleased and excited to announce that the 14th UK & Ireland Occupational and Environmental Epidemiology Society annual meeting will be held on 3-4 June 2021. This will be an online meeting over two half-days, hosted by the Centre for Environmental Health and Sustainability of the University of Leicester.
2021 marks the Centenary of the University of Leicester, which was created as a living memorial following the First World War, reflected in the University’s motto Ut vitam habeant – ‘so that they may have life’. The official launch of the recently established Centre will take part in July 2021 as part of the Centenary celebrations.
The theme of the meeting is ‘Research in a Pandemic’. The meeting will cover both COVID-19 and non-pandemic occupational and environmental epidemiological research relevant to UK & Ireland through keynote speakers, and a mix of short and longer presentations. We will have an online social event on evening of 3 June.
The event will be free, with registration via Eventbrite .
We would like to call for abstracts on new occupational and environmental epidemiological research relevant to the UK & Ireland setting, both COVID-19 and non-pandemic related. We particularly encourage work related to:
- Public and occupational health protection during the pandemic e.g. ventilation, novel PPE, etc. Much of the COVID-19 response has focussed on treatments and vaccines, but public and occupational health measures are the mainstay of our initial pandemic
- Climate change. The UK is hosting the UN Climate Change conference COP26, 1st-21st November https://ukcop26.org/
